A Man Was Caught Attempting To Smuggle Over 3 Million AED Into Abu Dhabi
An Asian traveller was caught attempting to smuggle SR 3,750,000 across the border from Saudi Arabia. Following the entry of a truck, inspectors from the General Administration of Customs, Abu Dhabi, decided to send the vehicle for further inspection where they discovered SR 3,750,000 hidden in the rear seat behind the driver. Customs inspectors then issued a case and transferred it to the concerned authorities to take all necessary legal actions.
According to Mohamed Khadem Al Hameli, Acting Director-General of Abu Dhabi’s General Administration of Customs, the administration continuously enhances it’s efforts to develop customs operations and adopt high-level custom strategies and regulations that support international trade, and enhance customs revenue through collecting customs duties on the import and export of goods.
“Abu Dhabi’s General Administration of Customs is working closely with relevant government entities to develop customs work and implement the latest inspection procedures and systems.” Al Hameli said. “The administration also continues to offer various types of training and skill development programs for customs inspectors to enhance their role in protecting the country from illegal trade that could threaten the country’s security and the economy as well as control smuggling operations.”
