Dr Craig Considine reshared this video of himself from 2019 enjoying the sound of the Call to Prayer at Dawn. In the video, he is standing on the balcony of his hotel room at 5:30 am waiting for the Athaan to ring out from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Dr Craig Considine is an American professor who visited Abu Dhabi in 2019

In the video, Dr. Craig says:

“It’s really serene and it’s beautiful, it’s a reminder that we have a duty to give thanks to our creator the All Mighty.”

The Athaan is the call to prayer for Muslims

It happens at specified times during the day to indicate the 5 different times Muslims should pray. The Imam is the one who conducts the call to prayer over the speakerphone and he leads the prayer.

So the times of call to prayer are:

  1. Dawn – Fajr
  2. Noon – Duhr
  3. Late Afternoon – Asr
  4. Sunset – Maghrib
  5. Evening – Isha

Additionally, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in Abu Dhabi. It features 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns, 24-carat-gold gilded chandeliers and the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet. Moreover, it was the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – the Founding Father of the UAE. He envisioned the creation of a welcoming and cultural haven that inspires people from all backgrounds.
