The Abu Dhabi judicial department (ADJD) Hit a major milestone! Their chemistry lab at the Centre for Forensic and Electronic Sciences identified a brand new narcotic substance, never before seen on the international stage, and got it officially registered in the global database, solidifying the UAE’s spot as a leader in forensic science.
Using some seriously high-tech lab wizardry, the chemical lab nailed down a narcotic substance from the ‘synthetic cannabinoid’ family. It’s officially named (adb-4c-mdmb-binaca) and is now logged in the international database in the Netherlands under the Abu Dhabi judicial department lab’s name, making them the first in the world to put this substance on record.
Counsellor Yousef Saeed al Abri, undersecretary of ADJD, highlighted that this discovery builds upon the chemistry lab’s past wins, like spotting another narcotic substance from the same synthetic cannabis group. He gave a shout-out to the lab team for their top-notch readiness, efficiency, and know-how, which all play a crucial role in keeping the public safe and pushing scientific boundaries.
The undersecretary of ADJD also mentioned that this discovery will help global efforts to fight drug abuse and boost community safety. He also pointed out the awesome teamwork with the forensic science research and education institute (CFSRE) in the United States, a world-leading center for spotting synthetic drugs, to double-check the substance’s properties before dropping the scientific paper and posting it on the Centre’s official site.
