Dubai is rightfully deemed as one of the safest cities in the world: from personal safety, infrastructure and health to digital/cyber crimes and such. The city prides itself on its legal system and law-abiding residents – of which we’ve heard countless stories on people returning lost items ranging from valuables such as electronics to handbags and even stacks of cash.

However, it’s near to impossible to wipe the city clean of ALL unlawful acts whatsoever… so with that being said here’s a recollection of events that led to one heck of a thorny evening.

It all went down outside a popular resto-cum-pub located at the backside of Sheikh Zayed Road

Post stationing the car at the sandy parking behind the venue, we made our way to the resto.

After a few hours, we decide to call it a night and head on back home. That’s where I saw a man dressed in run-down clothes (cargo pants and a simple tee) standing 5’6/5’7ft tall opening the doors of random cars.

He hurriedly went from one car to the other and appeared to be pulling on door handles. Upon seeing a big group approach, the sus man made a run for it.

Lucky for residents, the Dubai Police have put in place a service where you can report crimes of all nature

The ‘Police Eye‘ is a service available to all Dubai residents, citizens and tourists, where you can report physical as well as e-crimes directly to the authorities by sharing the details of the incident via the app.

Thanks to this service, we not only reported the sighting of the car burglar to the venue but also got on the app to share the details of the incident with Dubai Police.

Dubai is one of the safest cities with 300,000 cameras operating round-the-clock to ensure the safety of residents and citizens

To beef up surveillance and security measures within the city, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai just recently announced the launch of a new drone system called ‘Drone Box’.

‘Drone Box’ will look to dispatch several of the mini aircrafts all over Dubai in a bid to reduce the average response time to criminal and traffic reports from 4.4 minutes to 1 minute.

The system will be officially introduced during Expo 2020 in Dubai!
