Delivery riders can often be seen on the left “fast” lane on highways and it’s been starting conversations regarding their safety. Abu Dhabi’s ITC announced new traffic rules for delivery riders to promote their safety and well-being.

Delivery riders are no longer allowed to occupy the left lane on roads with a speed of 100km/h or higher

On 3-lane roads, delivery riders can only use 2 lanes from the right. On 4-lane roads, they are permitted to use 2 lanes from the right only. And on 5-lane roads, they are permitted to use the 3 lanes from the right only.

This will hopefully prevent accidents and ensure drivers’ safety.
