When Ed People touched down in Jordan, he wasted no time jumping into the local scene—literally! Within moments of arriving, he was already on a mission to master the legendary Jordanian Dabke dance, and the locals were more than happy to show him the ropes.
It all started with a simple question: ‘Can you teach me Dabke?’ A masked local pointed Ed in the right direction, and before you could say ‘step-kick-step,’ Ed was holding hands with a new friend in a grey jacket and a black-and-white scarf, learning the basics. The impromptu lesson took place right out in the open, with trees, flags, and a crowd of clapping onlookers adding to the fun.
But Ed wasn’t done yet! He took his newfound moves to the streets of Amman, where another local in a green hoodie and stick upped the ante with some seriously energetic Dabke steps. High kicks, leaning stances, and plenty of laughs drew a crowd of curious passersby, all eager to see if Ed could keep up with the real Jordanian rhythm.
Not one to back down, Ed and his dance partner even hopped out of a red car to keep the party going right on the street. With traditional Middle Eastern beats pumping in the background, the duo danced, smiled, and proved that a little curiosity and a lot of enthusiasm can turn strangers into instant friends—one Dabke step at a time!
