According to the Public Security Directorate, the whole mess kicked off after a heated exchange of insults between students. It didn’t take long for things to spiral, with sharp objects reportedly making an appearance and the crowd swelling as tensions rose. The dramatic chanting and shouts of ‘Allah, Allah’ and ‘Hoy, Hoy’ only added to the charged atmosphere, as dust and confusion filled the air on campus pathways.

University took action

The University of Jordan wasted no time responding. Several students involved in the fight were referred to the disciplinary council, and the university made it clear it won’t be going easy on anyone. In fact, they promised to impose the ‘severest penalties’ on anyone found guilty of compromising campus safety. Vice President Ashraf Abu Karak stressed that disciplinary measures are crucial to protect the university’s reputation and keep violence in check.

Calls for awareness and shared responsibility

University officials highlighted that keeping things peaceful on campus isn’t just up to the administration. Abu Karak pointed out that students and parents also play a big role in maintaining the good name of higher education in Jordan. He also called for more awareness programs to help prevent future incidents and keep the university vibe positive and safe for everyone.
