The Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) recently confirmed a successful air defense operation, intercepting two ballistic missiles that had violated national airspace. Following these events, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) swiftly issued crucial safety guidelines, urging the public to adhere to official instructions during emergencies.
The Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) announced a successful air defense response, confirming the interception and neutralization of two ballistic missiles. These missiles were detected violating Jordanian national airspace, specifically over the north of Irbid Governorate, where residents reported hearing “very intense sounds of aviation.” This swift action by national air defense systems ensured the protection of Jordanian territory, showcasing the JAF’s readiness and capability to safeguard the nation’s skies. The successful interception underscored the importance of vigilance and robust defense mechanisms in maintaining national security.
In the wake of recent aerial activity, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) stepped up to provide vital safety guidance to the public, emphasizing the importance of following official instructions. Sergeant Rashid Al-Ghashmari and Sergeant Rashid Kanaan from the Department of Media and Community Police delivered clear directives to help citizens stay safe. They highlighted that alarm siren sounds are not random; three intermittent sirens signal a threat, while a single siren indicates the threat has passed. During intermittent sirens, the advice is to stay put, or if outside, immediately enter the nearest building, keeping away from windows and open areas, and staying close to stairs and exits.
The PSD also issued specific instructions for encountering unusual objects. If anyone spots a strange object, a drone, or anything out of the ordinary in the sky, the immediate action should be to drop to the ground. It’s crucial not to underestimate the danger, approach, touch, photograph, or gather around such objects. The guidance stressed treating these as real dangers, moving away to the greatest possible distance, and allowing relevant authorities to perform their duties without additional risk from curious onlookers. This proactive approach aims to ensure public safety and prevent potential harm during unforeseen events.
