5. The Epic Search for Parking
Finding a parking spot on campus should come with a medal. You arrive early, full of hope, only to circle the lot like you’re in the “Fast & Furious.” If you’re lucky, you’ll find a spot only half a mile from your lecture hall; if not, well, you’re walking from the next neighborhood. Some days, you even debate if it’s worth the hassle – maybe today’s lecture wasn’t that important, right?
4. Finding Friends in Your First Year
Ah, the age-old struggle. You study everything, every slide, every highlighted line – and still, the exam comes out of nowhere. You start second-guessing every note, every revision. Was this even in the lecture? Did I miss a whole class? But hey, it’s a rite of passage. At least everyone else is just as confused, and that solidarity gets you through.
3. Wi-Fi Wars: The Quest for a Signal
The Wi-Fi struggle is real. You find a seat, settle in, and just as you’re about to load your notes… the connection drops. Suddenly, you’re walking around campus like you’re in a sci-fi movie, trying to “find the signal.” Mobile data becomes your backup plan (at the cost of every last MB), and some days, you swear the library Wi-Fi has a mind of its own. But hey, maybe it’s a sign to focus on the lecture… maybe.
2. The Rollercoaster of E-Learning
E-learning sounded like a dream until you tried it. Suddenly, lectures become 90-minute video calls, and “technical issues” are your new best excuse. There’s the constant struggle of finding a quiet spot, dodging family interruptions, and let’s not even get started on group projects online. If you’ve survived awkward virtual presentations, accidental camera fails, and the mystery of who’s really paying attention in those Zoom rooms, you know it’s an experience like no other. And as frustrating as it gets, e-learning has definitely made us pros at multitasking!
1. Making Fun of Freshmen (aka “Smurfs”)
Ah, the smurfs: wide-eyed, optimistic, and sometimes a little lost. You can always spot them on campus – asking for directions to lecture halls that are right in front of them, showing up for 8 AM classes with full energy, and maybe even trying to answer every question in class. (Just wait, you’ll see a shift by midterms!) It’s almost a rite of passage for upperclassmen to have a little laugh at their innocent enthusiasm. Don’t worry, freshmen – in a year, you’ll be laughing right along with us!
University in Jordan is a one-of-a-kind experience. The struggles may be real, but they’re what make the journey memorable (and let’s be real, hilarious). Someday, these will be the stories we’ll all look back on and laugh about. For now, though, we’re just trying to survive – one lecture, one coffee, and one parking spot at a time.
