Bus driver denied access to Yasmin

On her way to work, Yasmin waited at the bus stop like everyone else. But when the bus arrived, the driver saw her and simply ignored her request to open the accessible ramp. She tried to get his attention, asking him several times to open the special door, but he acted like he couldn’t hear her. Instead, he told her to wait for the next bus, leaving her stranded while others boarded with no problem.

Jordanians reacted with outrage

Once Yasmin shared her story online, it spread like wildfire. People across Jordan were shocked and angry that a public bus driver would deny someone access just because they use a wheelchair. Comments poured in, with many demanding accountability and calling the driver’s actions unacceptable. Some even said this wasn’t the first time such things had happened, and that real change is needed.

Yasmin called for independence

In her video, Yasmin explained that she wants to be able to get to work on her own, just like everyone else. She mentioned that she has filed countless complaints, but nothing has changed. She also pointed out that it’s not practical to have someone accompany her every day for her eight-hour shift. All she wants is the independence to move around the city freely.
