CLARIFIED: Residents DO Need GDRFA Approval When Returning Through Dubai

Avatar

Following an NCEMA decision last week that said residents would not need an entry permit to return to the UAE, Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management clarified that residents are still required to apply for an entry permit through the GDRFA – Dubai website if you wish to return to DUBAI.

Dubai Media Office shared the latest GDRFA approval update along with the additional requirements for travel

All residents must have a COVID-19 negative test along with GDRFA approval

  • You need to show the approval and negative COVID-19 test before boarding and on arrival.
  • All returning residents must download the COVID-19 DXB Smart App.
  • The mandatory 14 day quarantine is not valid if you present a negative COVID test.

A question still hangs over whether residents from other emirates travelling through Dubai need GDRFA approval. If you’re unsure, contact the airline you’re travelling with and follow their recommendations.

PSA: DHA is reminding all Dubai citizens and returning residents to treat wearing a face mask at all times as the NEW normal!

The UAE has been using police dogs as an additional defence against the novel coronavirus, thus you are still required to abide by travel regulations and guidelines to curb the spread of the virus, such as undergo a PCR-testing on arrival and wear a mask at all times.

If you’ve run out of disposable masks or are looking for quality reusable masks (to avoid being fined AED 3000) then check these out:

1. A pack of 50 three-layer disposable medical face masks for AED 14.95.

2. Advance reusable face mask, suitable for when you go running or cycling for AED 46.99.

3. Pack of 5 HypaShield Face Masks for AED 74.98.
