Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan recently embarked on a whirlwind tour of India, jetting from New Delhi to Mumbai. Her visit was a delightful mix of celebrating India’s vibrant cultural heritage and diving into crucial discussions about our shared future.
In Mumbai, Queen Rania kicked off her visit with a warm welcome, meeting the influential Ambani family, including Nita Ambani. The air was buzzing with excitement as they celebrated India’s incredible culture and craft. The Queen was captivated by the meticulous work of local artisans, observing hands expertly weaving intricate embroidery onto fabric, showcasing beautiful traditional Indian motifs like the majestic elephant. It was a true feast for the eyes, highlighting the country’s deep-rooted artistic traditions.
Back in New Delhi, Queen Rania took the stage at the ET Now Global Business Summit 2026, delivering some seriously thought-provoking remarks. She issued a clear warning about how rapidly AI is reshaping our world, often outpacing institutions, legislation, and even human judgment. Her Majesty highlighted the constant pressure to be first, not necessarily to be right, noting how companies rush to deploy AI without considering its full impact. She also pointed out how institutions sometimes filter out cautionary perspectives and how political systems can prioritize popularity over principles. Queen Rania emphasized that while markets, elections, and technologies often pull leaders towards immediate gains, humility is key. It helps leaders slow down, look beyond the next quarter or election, and focus on building a solid foundation for the future.
Her journey then whisked her back to Mumbai, where on Saturday, Queen Rania made a special stop at The Chanakya School of Craft. She was absolutely thrilled to praise their incredible efforts in preserving India’s traditional crafts and ensuring this rich cultural heritage continues to thrive. The Queen keenly observed students diligently working on large embroidery frames, stitching colorful and detailed patterns. She even got a peek into the intricate techniques, learning that ‘At this stage you’re working with two hands, the thread that holds it from below and the material from the top.’ Her warm interactions with the students and staff were met with heartfelt ‘Thank you’s, truly showcasing a moment of shared appreciation.
Throughout her trip, Queen Rania championed cross-cultural dialogue and highlighted shared priorities like inclusive growth and heritage preservation. She immersed herself in textile art exhibitions and workshops, engaging with artisans and experts. Walking through spaces filled with stunning fabric pieces and elaborately crafted garments, including a striking tree design with delicate embroidery, Queen Rania showed genuine interest and engagement. Her visit beautifully underscored the dedication to artistry and the vibrant exchange of cultures, leaving a lasting impression of collaboration and mutual respect.
