So many of you have been thinking about going to the U.K., maybe it’s because you’ve been watching a lot of “The Crown” and want to witness the castles and royal fairy dust on every street corner. Maybe it’s the football and fish and chips that did it for you, wanting to see Manchester United or Liverpool, or God forbid, Chelsea (Yes, you read that right), or perhaps it’s the Harry Potter books from your childhood just forcing you to see Platform 9¾.
Whatever the reason, the process has become much easier with the introduction of the ETA visa program, which allows you to get all the necessary paperwork from the comfort of your own phone. We’re going to help you figure it all out.
Remember, you can apply on behalf of someone using these steps (in case some family members just don’t get what apps are).
Who can apply:
Jordanians, of course, are able to use the new ETA Visa system, but also citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. So any and all Arab friends of yours can come along on the journey just as easily!
What you can do with an ETA:
There are some guidelines to getting the ETA, so make sure you fit one of the following before starting anything. You can get an ETA instead of a visa if you’re:
- Coming to the UK for up to 6 months for tourism, visiting family and friends, business, or short-term study (This is where most of you are going to be).
- Coming to the UK for up to 3 months on the Creative Worker visa concession.
- Coming to the UK for a permitted paid engagement.
- Transiting through the UK.
How much it costs:
9 JOD, or 10 pounds, which is a great deal and saves you the headache of the normal visa channels.
Starting equipment:
So you’re going to need a couple of things sitting handily next to you before you start this whole process.
Which is fine; I’m here with you. We can get through this together.
First, you’re going to need the passport you’ll travel with – not a photocopy.
Secondly, access to your emails; open that Gmail/Outlook and get ready to use it.
Third: A credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
Remember, you’re going to need to upload or take photos of the Passport and the face of the person applying (if you’re applying for yourself, that’s you, beautiful).
