Dr. Mohammad Al-Khalaileh, the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Jordan, has taken decisive action by suspending the operations of 18 Hajj and Umrah travel companies. This decision comes in the wake of an investigation into allegations that these companies provided Hajj services to individuals holding visit visas for Saudi Arabia.
The whole issue arose because pilgrims traveling on visit visas were not registered with the Saudi authorities, who were therefore unaware of their presence. This lack of official recognition meant that these pilgrims could not receive the necessary aid and support typically provided during the Hajj pilgrimage.
Dr. Al-Khalaileh has underscored the seriousness of the matter, emphasizing that the Ministry of Awqaf will not hesitate to revoke the licenses of any companies found to be complicit in this violation. This suspension is intended to ensure compliance with regulations governing the provision of Hajj and Umrah services, safeguarding the integrity of pilgrimage operations.
The Minister’s actions reflects Jordan’s pain over the death of these pilgrims, with the minister convaying that those who passed have been martyred in their pilgrimage
