Solidarity with Lebanon

In discussions with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, and Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, Safadi—who was visiting Lebanon under the directive of His Majesty King Abdullah—emphasized Jordan’s full solidarity with Lebanon in facing the repercussions of Israeli aggression. He also underscored Jordan’s commitment to providing all possible aid to Lebanon.

Safadi’s talks with Lebanese officials focused on efforts to cease the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and the urgent need to deliver humanitarian assistance to Lebanon. Furthermore, Safadi reiterated Jordan’s support for Lebanon’s efforts to elect a new president and rebuild its institutions, according to a Foreign Ministry statement. He condemned Israel’s war on Lebanon, the bombing of its capital, and the killing of its citizens, labeling it as “brutal” aggression—a violation of international law and a dangerous escalation that risks igniting a broader regional conflict, the statement noted.

Call for International Action

Safadi stressed the need for immediate international action, including a UN Security Council resolution to stop the aggression in Gaza, Lebanon, and the occupied West Bank, and to compel Israel to cease its violations of international law. In response to the escalating conflict, Jordan has dispatched seven aid planes to Lebanon, carrying 110 tons of food, relief supplies, medicines, and medical equipment since the onset of the Israeli aggression, according to the statement.
