In response to the ongoing crisis in Gaza, the Jordanian Armed Forces have intensified their humanitarian efforts to provide essential aid to Gaza. On Tuesday, Jordan sent three airdrops of humanitarian and food aid across southern Gaza. The airdrops were conducted with the support of aircraft from the Jordanian Air Force, the Egypt, and Germany.
Since the beginning of the current Israeli attack on Gaza, Jordan has carried out 96 airdrops and 248 airdrops in collaboration. A significant humanitarian aid convoy organized by the Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) successfully crossed into Gaza today as well. The convoy had 92 trucks loaded with food, tents, and first aid kits. A total of 1,456 land trucks and 53 planes have delivered aid to Gaza through the Land rout.
Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi described this move as an “important and essential step towards Palestinian statehood.” During a press conference with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, Safadi highlighted that this recognition is a significant stride towards achieving a two-state solution, envisioning an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the July 1967 borders.
Harris underscored the political and symbolic significance of this recognition. Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store confirmed his country’s decision despite warnings from Israel, which has recalled its envoys to Norway and Ireland for consultations. Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez indicated that Spain would formalize its recognition of the Palestinian state, criticizing Israeli policies in Gaza.
These coordinated humanitarian and diplomatic efforts reflect Jordan’s unwavering commitment to supporting Gaza and advocating for Palestinian statehood amidst the ongoing conflict.
