Avatar

Amid escalating regional tensions, HRH King Abdullah II has made it clear that Jordan will not be drawn into the ongoing war. In a meeting with US Congress staffers at Al-Husseiniya Palace, the King emphasized that Jordan will not become a battleground, prioritizing the safety and stability of the Kingdom above all else.

King Abdullah stressed the urgent need for de-escalation in the region, pointing out that the war on Gaza continues to pose a significant threat to regional stability. He urged the international community to intensify efforts toward securing an immediate and permanent ceasefire, as the only way to prevent the war from spreading.

The King also highlighted the dangers posed by extremist settler attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank and the violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He reiterated that a just and comprehensive peace, based on a two-state solution, is essential for the security of all parties involved. Additionally, King Abdullah called for continued support for UNRWA to aid Palestinian refugees in the region.

Strengthening US-Jordan Relations

The meeting also served as an opportunity to discuss ways to enhance the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States. King Abdullah expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the US, which has been pivotal in maintaining Jordan’s stability and security. The US delegation, in turn, acknowledged Jordan’s crucial role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.

King Abdullah’s message to the US Congress staffers was clear and resolute: Jordan will not compromise its stability or the safety of its people. As the region grapples with the ongoing war, Jordan remains committed to peace, de-escalation, and a political solution that ensures lasting security for all.
