King Abdullah Visits South Badia

King Abdullah II met with community leaders and prominent figures from the Southern Badia in Wadi Rum yesterday to mark the Silver Jubilee.

During the meeting, King Abdullah II praised the significant contributions of leaders and figures from the Southern Badia to Jordan’s development and advancement.The King also emphasized the Southern Badia’s wealth of unique tourist destinations, as Wadi Rum & Petra both fall into Southern Badia. The Local Clans have been helping government officials in proactive measures when it comes to tourist safety.

He stressed the need for development projects to be implemented in the Southern Badia as soon a possible

Especially as southern Badia is the most Water starved region in a country that already ranks as the most water scarce country in the world. Water projects linking the region to water reserves from northern jordan and distilled water from Aqaba are his top priority.

Attendees at the meeting, part of the King’s ongoing visits to governorates and Badia regions for the Silver Jubilee celebrations, praised the achievements made over the past 25 years though, spanning across multiple domains.

Upon his arrival at the meeting in Wadi Rum, King Abdullah II was greeted with a poetry performance.

He then joined the attendees for iftar and led the Maghreb prayer. The gathering also featured poetry recitations and a traditional As-Samer performance. Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, and Adviser to His Majesty for Tribal Affairs Kneiaan Bluwi were among the officials present at the meeting.

Addressing the attendees, King Abdullah reminisced about his military service in the 40th Royal Armoured Brigade Stationed in Badia.
