An Air France flight faced unexpected drama at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Sunday when a Jordanian national boarded with a canceled ticket, leading to a full aircraft evacuation. This unusual incident caused quite a stir before the flight could eventually depart for Paris.
Authorities arrested a Jordanian national after he managed to board an international Air France flight at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Sunday, despite using a boarding pass that had been canceled. Court affidavits revealed that the passenger’s ticket was voided due to an unauthorized credit card. Surprisingly, he still passed the TSA checkpoint and was allowed onto the aircraft after airline staff couldn’t find his name on the official passenger list, creating a puzzling security lapse.
Once settled, or rather, not so settled, on the aircraft, the passenger reportedly refused to take his assigned seat. He claimed the seat felt ‘suspicious and wrong,’ which certainly raised some eyebrows! Following this, he began pacing the aisle, completely ignoring repeated instructions from the diligent flight crew. This behavior naturally escalated the situation, prompting the need for intervention and ultimately, the evacuation of all passengers.
The man at the center of this airborne kerfuffle was identified as Qais Ahmad Tillawi. It turns out this wasn’t his first rodeo with airport authorities; he had previously been detained at other airports. A family member later informed authorities that Qais Ahmad Tillawi had been diagnosed with psychosis and had even been committed to a mental health facility in the past, shedding light on the potential reasons behind his erratic actions.
After all the commotion and the necessary evacuation, the Air France flight experienced a delay of around two hours. Thankfully, after the situation was resolved and Qais Ahmad Tillawi was apprehended, the aircraft was able to depart safely. It later landed without further incident in Paris, bringing a rather eventful start to the journey to a calm conclusion for the other passengers.
