Talk about a travel headache! Passengers on Royal Jordanian Flight 707 found themselves in a bit of a pickle at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. What started as a regular flight turned into an over 24+ hour saga, leaving everyone feeling more than a little frustrated.
The scene at the airport terminal was nothing short of chaotic, with a dense crowd of passengers gathered around the gate area. The initial delay, stretching over 12 hours, was blamed on some pesky technical issues. You could hear the frustration bubbling over, with one passenger pleading, ‘Brother, give us the 2 o’clock plane,’ only to be met with a weary, ‘no’ It wasn’t just the young ones feeling the pinch; families and elderly passengers reported utter exhaustion from the seemingly endless wait. Even a dedicated Royal Jordanian staff member, was seen trying his best to address the mounting concerns of the weary travelers.
As the hours ticked by, passengers found themselves in a frustrating information vacuum. Updates from the airline were reportedly limited and often unclear, leaving everyone guessing. One voice was heard mentioning ‘seeing a crisis/jam,’ while another simply wanted ‘something… receive time,’ clearly yearning for a solid update or a new departure schedule. Royal Jordanian eventually clarified that the hold-up was due to unavailable repair equipment right there at the airport. This news, coupled with the prolonged wait, seemed to push passengers to a new level of expression: traditional drumming and rhythmic chanting began to fill the air, turning the waiting area near gates A39-40 and A42-50 into an unexpected, rhythmic protest.
Hope arrived in the form of a technical team and much-needed parts, which were dispatched all the way from Jordan. However, despite this promising development, the waiting game was far from over. Passengers continued to fill various sections of the airport, some looking utterly drained and resorting to sitting on the floor, while others stood in weary groups. The persistent sounds of drumming and chanting served as a constant reminder of the prolonged ordeal and the passengers’ unwavering frustration.
