On a sunny November day, Queen Rania made her way to Aqaba to visit the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Community Empowerment Center (QRCEC), a place that’s all about making a difference for locals. Since opening in 2011, the center has been a major hub for family support, child protection, and training programs that empower the people of Aqaba. And for Queen Rania, it’s a chance to personally connect with those benefiting from these impactful initiatives.
Queen Rania started her visit by meeting with QRCEC Director Ahmad Ghneimat, who gave her a comprehensive look at the programs offered at the center. Among these are projects that help parents learn positive parenting techniques, teach kids important life skills, and offer much-needed resources for youth to thrive. One highlight of her visit was ‘Beit Sgheer,’ a hands-on project created to raise awareness about protecting children from abuse. This exhibit uses interactive storytelling to teach children about personal safety in a comfortable and engaging way.
She also spent time with women participating in art therapy, a powerful outlet where they can express themselves freely while building confidence. The Queen’s engagement with them was warm and genuine, a reminder of her commitment to mental health and personal empowerment.
For Queen Rania, empowering locals to achieve economic independence is a passion. During her tour, she got to see 10 incredible projects created by QRCEC beneficiaries, who proudly displayed their products. From handcrafted goods to culinary delights, these entrepreneurs explained how QRCEC helped them with job placements, networking, and even securing grants to bring their visions to life.
One of the standout stories came from Suhaib Al Ammouri, a young entrepreneur who started a packaging solutions business, Jo Bags. Initially a small home-based project, Ammouri’s business grew with the support of Queen Rania, expanding to include modern equipment and more employees. Today, Jo Bags is a main supplier for some of Aqaba’s finest hotels and shops, and Ammouri’s team has grown to nine members. His journey is a testament to how QRCEC’s support can turn dreams into thriving businesses.
Queen Rania’s visit wasn’t just symbolic—it was a boost of motivation for Aqaba’s local community, showing that the hard work happening at QRCEC matters. Her conversations with local leaders, project owners, and community-based organizations emphasized the importance of sustainable, community-led growth. These efforts, combined with the QRCEC’s workshops in financial literacy, project management, and life skills, are equipping Aqaba’s youth and families for a brighter future.
Her visit reminds us that empowerment doesn’t stop at words—it’s an ongoing commitment to uplifting communities through practical support, training, and genuine care. For the people of Aqaba, Queen Rania’s presence highlighted that they’re seen, valued, and supported every step of the way. This isn’t just a center; it’s a lifeline helping Aqaba grow stronger, one empowered individual at a time.
