Everyone has been in this scenario before: You wake up, you’re hungry, and you stumble into the kitchen, reaching and flailing to find something to eat—anything. There’s nothing there that doesn’t take too much effort. You’re tired from the gym, you’ve been working hard all week, you just want to wake up, relax, and eat a good breakfast. We got you; here’s a list of the top breakfast spots in Amman.
At number 9, you’ve got Rumi Café, located in your favorite walkable neighborhood, Rainbow Street. It’s cozy, with trees and shrubbery, good food, a lovely vibe. You should try it, especially if you like a more social and whimsical morning.
Matcha is here, and here to stay. Smoothies, Acai Bowls, fresh juices—you name it. If it’s healthy and tasty at the same time, you can find it at the Turtle Green Bar.
If you would like to have an adventure, or you’ve rewatched “Downton Abbey” a little too many times, head over to Shakespeare and Co. The novelty and setting are great, and we would recommend a quick bite and coffee, not for the full breakfast experience.
Fatatri is a breakfast place in the heart of Amman’s first circle. There’s no indoor seating, and you are outside exposed to the elements and the honking of horns. Not for those who want a peaceful breakfast, but if you can put up with all of that, you’re rewarded with some of Amman’s local breakfast scrumptious delights.
When you need a simple, good old-fashioned, no-nonsense coffee straight into your veins, that’s where Qahwa BLK comes in.
Yes, Blue Fig has been Abdoun’s night spot for the longest, but they’re branching out with a strong breakfast menu and live music bands for brunch. It’s convenient to get to and has a well-rounded menu with everything from salads, omelets, manqoush, avocado toast, and more!
Tammouz is located in the area of Jabal Al-Weibdeh and shares the timeless ability to impress. Their Arabic breakfast has a wide selection like Fatteh, Tabbouleh, and even beetroot hummus. The best place for studying, working, or chilling with friends. Delicious food and drinks suitable for families, friends, and couples.
Okay, warning—heavy bias here, but this was the go-to place for my family for breakfast growing up in Amman. I cannot recommend this place more; it has amazing views of the old city. You can see Roman ruins and all of downtown as you’re eating, and that’s not even getting to the food, which is the perfect authentic Jordanian breakfast that you must try as soon as possible!
It’s cold and raining outside; you just want a hot coffee and a good breakfast. You walk around Rainbow Street, and nothing is striking your fancy. You get to the end of the road and are left pondering what to do. Something catches your eye; a small sign and the outline of a book. You take a right at the end of the street and stumble upon a place called Books@Cafe. As you enter, you’re met with a bookstore. As you look to your left, you find a narrow stairwell that leads upwards. Walking up, you hear the clatter of plates and hushed conversations before the café opens up to you. Small antique tables lit by candles, comfy chairs to sink into, and above all, the smell of amazing food and coffee being made.
Books@Cafe is our top recommendation for a reason. Try a book from downstairs, go up, order a coffee and some breakfast—you won’t regret it.
