In a significant development with ongoing security issues facing northern, something a lot of us are keenly aware of, Jordanian authorities have thwarted an attempt by armed groups loyal to Iran in Syria to smuggle weapons into Jordan. The ultimate goal was to deliver these weapons to a Palestinian movement, according to unnamed sources who spoke to Reuters. The plot’s exposure underscores the ongoing challenges Jordan faces in maintaining regional security and combating illicit arms trafficking.
Those detained are accused of attempting to “spread chaos” within Jordan. However, there has been no official confirmation or denial of these events from Jordanian authorities.

Just two days before this report, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad, to discuss border security and the battle against drug smuggling. The talks, which took place ahead of the Arab League Council summit in Bahrain, also covered the results of joint efforts by both countries’ authorities to thwart smuggling operations and address their dangers.
The discussions between Safadi and Mekdad also touched upon the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip and the resulting humanitarian catastrophe. They explored ways to enhance coordination on key issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, and discussed broader Arab efforts to achieve regional security and stability.
