Iraq is on the verge of declaring itself free from radioactive contamination

The head of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission, Naeem Al-Aboudi, announced that Dhi Qar Governorate in southern Iraq is now completely free of radioactive contamination. He pointing to exceptional efforts made by specialized teams in the treatment and control processes. Al-Aboudi also indicated that the final declaration of Iraq being entirely free of radioactive contamination is imminent.

Iraq Announces Dhi Qar Governorate Completely Free of Radioactive Contamination After Rapid Cleanup

Murtada Aboud Al-Ibrahimi, Al-Aboudi, who also serves as the Minister of Higher Education, announced During a press conference attended by the Governor of Dhi Qar,  that specialized national teams from the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission successfully treated approximately two hundred tons of contaminated military waste. This remarkable effort was completed in a record time of thirty-four days. He further noted that supervisory teams from the National Authority for Nuclear, Radiological, and Chemical Regulation conducted thorough surveys, confirming that Dhi Qar Governorate is now free of radioactive waste.

Final Declaration of Being Completely Free from Radioactive Contamination

Al-Aboudi added that experts from the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission are continuing the purification process in several other provinces. He emphasized that the final declaration of Iraq being completely free of radioactive contamination will be made soon.
