Dammam Airport Was Previously Known To Be Larger Than All Of Bahrain
Dammam Airport is a massive hub covering a whopping 776 km²! Definitely like a city of its own, this spot is known to be bustling with travelers and planes zooming in and out. You could probably fit a small country in there with room to spare!🧐
The most interesting part about this airport however is that at some point in history it was considered to be larger than the whole country of Bahrain.
Back in 2014 Bahrain covered an area of 771km² , smaller than Dammam Airport’s 776km² size
As shown in the same graph above, from the years 2010 to 2014, the island measured to be less than the entire airport of Dammam Airport. Bahrain was even smaller throughout the early 2000’s and most of the 1900’s!
