Bahrain is getting serious about animal rights, and the message is loud and clear: every creature, from bees to big pets, is protected by law! The Kingdom’s commitment to animal welfare is making waves on the news lately, and anyone who crosses the line will face some real consequences.
Back in 2014, Gulf countries, including Bahrain, signed the Animal Welfare Agreement. This agreement isn’t just a piece of paper, it’s a rulebook for anyone who owns or breeds animals. The law says you’ve got to protect your animals, feed them right, and make sure they have a comfy place to live.
If you need to move your furry (or feathery) friends, you have to do it safely, so they don’t get hurt. And leaving animals to fend for themselves? That’s a big no-no.

Colonel Jassim Mohammed Butair, Director of the Media and Public Relations Directorate at the Ministry of Interior, isn’t mincing words. He made it clear that anyone, citizen or expat, who tortures or kills animals will be held accountable by law. And yes, that includes bees! He even suggested that people who enjoy hurting animals might need a mental health check. The law is here to protect all creatures, big and small.
Colonel Butair also called on parents to step up. He reminded everyone that parents are role models, and it’s their job to teach kids that hurting animals is never okay. Whether it’s a tiny kitten or a big dog, kindness is key. Plus, he gave a shoutout to Islamic teachings, which have always emphasized compassion for animals.
So, in Bahrain, animal cruelty isn’t just frowned upon—it’s a criminal offense, and the law is watching!
