Throughout last year, Bahrain’s authorities took significant action to address the growing issue of unlicensed street stalls and carts obstructing public space, seizing over 2,200 carts across the Capital Governorate.
The primary objective behind these inspections was to clear pavements and public roads, ensuring they remain accessible and safe for pedestrians. Unlicensed food vendors, in particular, also raised health and hygiene concerns, prompting the need for stricter enforcement of the 2019 law on public road use.
Authorities are still urging all these vendors to utilize licensed channels for their businesses – making sure they can operate legally, following safety standards, and contributing to a more organised environment for all.
This is all a part of a broader effort to maintain the cleanliness + orderliness of Bahrain’s public spaces!

While the authorities continue to monitor public spaces and enforce the 2019 law, the ultimate goal is to ensure that both residents and visitors can enjoy a vibrant and accessible capital.
By encouraging vendors to go through the proper channels for operating, Bahrain is set to strike a balance between supporting local businesses and still maintaining public order!
Expect: More businesses thriving responsibly and a pedestrian-friendly capital.
