15-Year-Old Lured Into Dangerous Substance Use Via E-Cigarettes

As reported by News of Bahrain,  a troubling case has emerged in the Kingdom where a 15-year-old boy was lured into drug use through an e-cigarette. The boy’s erratic behavior led his mother to take him to Salmaniya Hospital, where it was discovered he had ingested narcotics.

His mother filed a complaint against a 30-year-old who allegedly pressured her son into using a drug-laced e-cigarette

The accused denies giving the minor drugs or encouraging his use, however the boy’s mother found a video on her son’s phone showing the defendant adding drugs to the e-cigarette, and Snapchat messages where the defendant offered hashish along with other substances.  The boy also unfortunately tested positive for methamphetamine and other drugs in his system, without having any idea on what he ingested.

The defendant, with a prior drug conviction, faced serious charges

Bahrain’s MPs have been proactive in addressing the rising concern over e-cigarettes, working towards a ban on these devices in the Kingdom

They are especially focused on protecting young people, urging against e-cigarette use among those under 18. With increasing evidence of the dangers associated with e-cigarettes, including their potential role in drug-related incidents, lawmakers are determined to safeguard the health and well-being of Bahrain’s youth through strict regulatory measures.
