Aysha Alharam has made history as the first Arab AND Bahraini winner of the prestigious ‘Young Space Leaders’ award. This accolade honours exceptional students and young professionals who significantly contribute to astronautics, engage with their communities, and actively participate in the international space community.

Aysha is currently Bahrain’s first female Space Engineer and also serves as the Chief of the Satellite Design Department at the National Space Science Agency (NSSA). She leads Bahrain’s first national satellite project, marking a significant milestone in the country’s space endeavors.
The 2024 IAF Young Space Leaders will receive their awards at the 75th International Astronautical Congress in Milan, Italy, this October, where Aysha’s groundbreaking achievements and leadership in the field of space engineering will be getting some well-deserved recognition!

Aysha also holds two master’s degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a concentration in space technology and Information Technology, and actively mentors young women through the Space4Women program.
Her achievements and dedication to the space industry have earned her numerous accolades, including the SSPI’s 20 Under 35 award, making her a prominent figure in the global space community and a role model for aspiring young Bahraini professionals.
