In a groundbreaking announcement set to transform regional travel, Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has signed a Letter of Intent with The Helicopter Company (THC), solidifying plans for a direct helicopter route connecting Bahrain and Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The momentous signing ceremony took place at the Awal Private Terminal, coinciding with the official launch of Bahrain’s National Aviation Strategy 2026–2027. This dual announcement signals a new era for air travel, regional logistics, and Bahrain’s unwavering commitment to its Economic Vision 2030.

This landmark agreement marks a significant milestone for The Helicopter Company (THC), as this route will be their first-ever international service outside of Saudi Arabia – The new service promises to introduce civil helicopter flights that offer a truly fast, luxury, and seamless travel experience between Bahrain and Dammam.

Speaking at the launch, HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, emphasized that the new National Aviation Strategy is a cornerstone of Bahrain’s ambition to strengthen its position as a leading global aviation hub. The strategy aims to expand Bahrain’s air destination network from an impressive 66 to 100 destinations by 2030, transforming Bahrain International Airport into a global center of excellence for commercial and private aviation, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) services, and logistics.
