Bahrain’s New CPR Cards Feature The Cutest Little Symbols!

Hera Shabbir

If you’ve been thinking about updating your CPR (Central Population Registration) card in Bahrain, you’re in for a treat… a major one! This year, the Kingdom rolled out a new National ID card design that’s packed with high-tech features and some seriously adorable symbols.

Earlier this year, the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) advised residents to hold off on renewing their CPR until it expired – unless you had an urgent need to update.

But now, the new National ID is here, and it’s worth the wait!

The upgraded CPR card is all about giving you more security, convenience, and a dash of national pride. Here’s what’s fresh and exciting:

  1. Biometric Features – A smoother, more secure way to identify yourself.
  2. Advanced Security Measures – The latest technology to keep your data safe.
  3. Increased Capacity – More space for all the important info you need.
  4. Expanded Digital Capabilities – Perfect for handling all those online transactions without a hitch.
  5. New Printing System – Cutting down on maintenance and government costs (because everyone loves efficiency).

But what really catches the eye? The new card has some of the cutest Bahraini symbols featured on it!

From palm tree leaves to starfish and hammour (that’s fish, by the way), it’s like a mini-tour of Bahrain’s beautiful culture right on your ID. There’s even a sailboat design to give a nod to the country’s history and heritage. From the iconic sail monument and Bahrain World Trade Center to sea waves, oysters, and pearls – it’s a mini celebration of the Kingdom’s culture. Plus, the palm tree leaf and wave designs give it that perfect Bahraini touch

It’s like carrying a little piece of Bahrain wherever you go!

The new CPR card is for all residents, whether you’re Bahraini or not!

So whether you’re a proud local or an expat calling Bahrain home, you’ll get to rock this fresh, new look.

Here’s the good news: If your CPR card is still valid, you don’t have to rush to get the new one. Your current card will still work for all government transactions until it expires. However, if you want to update the chip or just love the new design, you can update it anytime.

The best part? There’s no extra cost for the new card!

You’ll just pay the regular National ID fees, which range from BD1 to BD10, depending on your situation. As for how long your new CPR card is valid, if you’re under 70 years old, it’s good for five years. If you’re 70 or older, you get a solid 10 years. So, it’s a pretty long-term deal!

Just a heads-up: If you’re an expat applying for a new CPR card, make sure your passport is up to date before heading to the service center. No passport, no CPR!
