A woman is accused of setting her dog on a neighbor and hitting him in the face with its leash in Bahrain, leaving the 74-year-old man with a lasting injury, according to what was heard in court.

The incident reportedly took place during an argument between the elderly Bahraini man and a woman in her forties, who is of Asian background

The confrontation turned physical, and both ended up with visible injuries. The man told the court that the woman ordered her dog to attack him, spat in his face, and then whipped him with the dog’s leash. He said he hit back in self-defense.

He suffered a fractured middle finger that still hasn’t healed and doctors say the injury amounts to a one percent permanent impairment

The woman also had injuries—bite marks on both hands and bruises, which matched what was found in her medical report.The High Criminal Court heard both sides of the case during the first session and postponed further proceedings until April 27.

The man denied attacking the woman and told the judge she was the one who started it
