In April 2021, Bahrain inaugurated its first electric car charging station at the Atrium Mall in Saar! The initiative, launched by the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak and EWA’s CEO Shaikh Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, marked a significant step towards achieving the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. The station, installed by Siemens, supports most types of electric vehicles and represents the first of many planned stations across the kingdom.
2. Hilton Bahrain, Juffair
Hilton Bahrain has recently introduced a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station at their hotel in Juffair. This initiative aligns with their commitment to sustainability and provides a convenient amenity for guests and visitors! The station, developed in partnership with McLaren, is capable of fully charging most EV models in 4-6 hours. This feature allows guests to enjoy the hotel’s facilities while their vehicle charges, supporting Hilton’s global “Travel with Purpose” strategy.

2. InterContinental Bahrain
InterContinental Bahrain has also introduced a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and exceptional service. This facility is available to both hotel guests and visitors, allowing them to charge their EVs conveniently while enjoying the hotel’s luxurious amenities. The charging station supports multiple types of electric vehicles and provides a quick and eco-friendly solution in the heart of the city!

Bahrain’s broader goal to achieve carbon neutrality and reducing carbon emissions
In addition to the already mentioned charging stations, Bahrain is expanding its network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations significantly. The Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs (EWA) has partnered with ABB to install five new fast charging stations. These stations are planned to be strategically located across the kingdom, offering 360-kilowatt charging capabilities that can recharge EVs within 15 minutes!
