Indian Expat Catches Flight Back Home After Waiting For Decades In Bahrain!

In a moment that feels straight out of a movie, 42 years of waiting, hoping, and surviving are finally coming to an end for Mr. Gopalan Chandran, an Indian expatriate in Bahrain who is preparing to return home for the first time in over four decades.

Originally from a small village near Powdikonam in Trivandrum, Kerala, Mr. Chandran arrived in Bahrain on August 16, 1983

Like many others, he came with youthful dreams and the determination to build a better future for his family back home. But life had other plans. A tragic twist of fate,  the sudden death of his employer, the loss of his passport, and mounting documentation issues — left Mr. Chandran stranded and undocumented. With no way forward and no clear path home, the years turned into decades.

But today, that story is taking a new turn….

As stated by News Of Bahrain, thanks to the unwavering efforts of Pravasi Legal Cell (PLC) and the leadership of Mr. Sudheer Thirunilath, Global PRO and Bahrain Chapter President of PLC, Mr. Chandran’s journey home is finally becoming a reality. This emotional reunion has also been made possible through the compassionate collaboration of the Embassy of India, Bahrain’s Immigration Department, Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), and the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

After 42 long years, Mr. Chandran will once again set foot on Indian soil and embrace the family he’s held onto in his heart all these years.
