The Kingdom of Bahrain’s Ministry of Health is actively monitoring the global situation regarding Mpox, previously known as monkeypox, following the World Health Organization’s declaration of it as a public health emergency.

The Ministry has confirmed that, to date, no cases of Mpox have been reported in Bahrain

In response to the situation, the Ministry has made the Mpox vaccine available at various primary healthcare centers across the Kingdom. A comprehensive preventive strategy has been implemented to manage infectious diseases and prevent the spread of infections. Additionally, an emergency plan is in place should any cases of Mpox arise.

Mpox is a viral infection characterized by symptoms such as fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes

The virus can spread through direct contact with infected individuals or animals. While most cases are mild, severe instances can occur. Vaccines and antiviral treatments are effective in treating the disease, and prevention strategies include avoiding contact with infected individuals or animals, practicing good hygiene, frequent handwashing, and using personal protective equipment.

Early detection and isolation of infected individuals are essential to controlling outbreaks and preventing the further spread of Mpox.
