Driving around the GCC brings you a very strict set of rules you have to follow, and traffic violations in Bahrain are known to have hefty fines and penalties. Speeding can vary from 10 all the way to BHD 100 depending on the speed.  Running red lights also have hefty penalties, reaching up to BHD 300, and other reckless incidents like drifting warrants fines up to BHD 500 and possible license suspension!

Another common fine that people are found paying often is the penalty for using a mobile phone while driving, which leads up to BHD 100. Some extremities like as multiple fines, black points, and unauthorized modifications can lead to vehicle impounding.

The time period for vehicle impound in Bahrain has now increased from 30 days to 60!

That’s a whole 2 months of you going without your vehicle. In order to lessen such violations, the Kingdom decided to extend the impound period by another 30 days. The decision was set in place by  Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa. The rule for impounding applies to vehicles with multiple violations or unauthorized modifications.
