The former Pakistani captain, affectionately known as “Lala” to his millions of fans, was spotted arriving at Bahrain International Airport yesterday, sparking widespread excitement across social media channels.
This seriously fueled speculation among cricket enthusiasts about the purpose of his visit, with the anticipation culminating in a significant meeting that happened over the weekend.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, officially received Shahid Afridi yesterday, underscoring Bahrain’s unwavering commitment to the continued development and international presence of cricket within the Kingdom.
Also present at the meeting were His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Council for Environment, Deputy Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee, and Member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports; and Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayyed, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.

The discussions focused on a strategic roadmap to further enhance the sport’s growth in Bahrain. Highlighting the practical aspects of this vision, His Highness Shaikh Nasser and Shahid Afridi paid a special visit to the Victorious Cricket Team.
Afridi, a living legend celebrated for his electrifying performances and motivational prowess, was briefed on the team’s training programmes, player development stages, and ongoing efforts to elevate performance levels and build sustainable teams.

He also affirmed his keenness to support the sport’s development, aligning with the Kingdom’s ambitious goals, with a special post on his social profiles.
