How the journey began

The development of Al Munther began in September 2022, with a team of Bahraini engineers and space scientists leading the design, construction, and testing of the satellite. It was completed in April 2024 and then officially launched on March 15, 2025 on board the Space X Falcon 9 in California.

Al Munther is a stepping stone for future space missions!

His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Jaber Al Khalifa, Chairman of NSSA, mentioned:

“This significant national achievement is the result of continuous efforts and close collaboration between our distinguished Bahraini teams and international partners. It reinforces our commitment to fulfilling His Majesty the King’s vision for Bahrain to occupy a leading position in the space sector.”

With Al Munther now in orbit, Bahrain is shifting its focus toward expanding its space capabilities. The establishment of a mini ground station will enable enhanced communication, satellite operations, and future research projects!
