A tragic fire broke out in the early hours of Tuesday in a residential building in Hajiyat, claiming the lives of a 30-year-old man with disabilities and his 48-year-old mother, who reportedly fell from a balcony while desperately trying to escape the flames.

This prompted an immediate response from Civil Defence teams, who arrived on the scene within 10 minutes of the emergency call. Despite the swift intervention, the mother and son could not be saved. Their attempt to flee the apartment ended in tragedy as thick smoke engulfed the building.
A child suffering from smoke inhalation was rushed to hospital and is currently in stable condition. Meanwhile, 16 residents trapped by smoke were safely rescued, and another 116 people were evacuated as a precaution.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause and full circumstances surrounding the incident.The tragedy has left the local community in mourning, as officials continue to assess safety protocols and support those affected.
