Last night, Bahrain’s skies started getting sandblasted like never before. The sandstorm that swept through the Kingdom was intense, reducing visibility and leaving a thick dust haze in its wake.

Residents woke up to the dusty surprise, and most of them had the most hilarious reactions, turning the chaotic weather into great content. Here’s what you need to know:

A sky full of dust!

Bahrain woke up to a significant dust wave Tuesday morning, reducing visibility across the kingdom. Accompanied by strong winds at times, the storm made for an eerie scene.

The dust haze is expected to thin out with some clouds and rising sand in places later in the day. Winds are expected to be northwesterly at 17 to 22 knots, reaching 25 to 30 knots at times. Sea conditions will be 1 to 3 feet inshore and 4 to 7 feet offshore.

Drivers, make sure you take caution​

The low visibility has prompted authorities to urge drivers to remain cautious on the roads. It’s advisable to reduce speed, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and use headlights to enhance visibility. Avoid sudden lane changes and stay alert for any changes in road conditions.​

The TikToks about the sandstorm have been hilarious

As expected, TikTok users turned the sandstorm into comedic gold. From dramatic reenactments of battling the winds to humorous takes on the “new normal,” the platform was flooded with content that had everyone laughing. One user joked, “Bahrain’s new tourist attraction: the Sahara Desert Experience!”​

The forecast predicts that the dusty conditions will persist throughout the week. Expect rising sand in places and fine weather with some clouds. Winds will continue to be northwesterly, reaching 25 to 30 knots at times. Sea conditions will vary, so it’s best to stay updated on local advisories. ​

With the ongoing sand and dust, it’s advisable to stay indoors as much as possible. Keep windows and doors closed to prevent dust from entering your home. If you must go outside, wear protective gear like sunglasses and a scarf or even a mask, to shield yourself from the dust.
