The wait is over for the local basketball community. The Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) has officially confirmed that the 2025–2026 Zain Premier League season will resume this Friday, March 6, with the highly anticipated Khalifa bin Salman Cup.
The restart begins with the Quarter-Finals of the Khalifa bin Salman Cup, a prestigious knockout tournament featuring the top-tier teams of the Zain Premier League, with matches currently scheduled for Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7.

To maintain the highest level of safety for everyone involved, the BBA has confirmed that matches will be played behind closed doors. Access to the arena will be strictly limited to players, technical staff, and administrative officials.
The BBA has also introduced a specific safety measure for the current period: matches will be stopped immediately if warning sirens are heard. Play will only resume once official authorities and the Competitions Committee confirm that the area is secure.
Since fans cannot attend in person, basketball lovers will be able to support their teams from the comfort of their homes. You can catch every layup, block, and buzzer-beater of the Zain Premier League live on Smashi TV, the exclusive digital home for Bahraini basketball.
While the stands may be empty for now, the energy of the fans watching from home will undoubtedly be felt by the players on the court! As we move forward, the BBA has indicated that the return of spectators will be reviewed gradually as the situation stabilizes. For now, it’s all about staying safe, staying united, and celebrating the return of the sport that brings so much life to the island.
