Shortly after Iran launched missiles at the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar as part of a retaliation campaign, governments across the Gulf region took immediate safety measures. The strike, reportedly involving several ballistic missiles, was largely intercepted by Qatari defenses, and no casualties were reported.
In response, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior (MOI) issued loud siren alerts across the country, urging residents to go indoors and remain calm. Multiple people reported hearing emergency sirens and receiving warnings to head to the nearest safe space. At the same time, Bahrain’s airspace was temporarily closed, part of a broader regional effort that also saw countries like Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE suspend incoming and outgoing flights as a safety precaution.
Within the hour, a second siren was sounded, this time announcing the end of danger. The MOI later issued a statement explaining that the alerts were purely precautionary and made to ensure public safety given the situation in the region.
Authorities reassured the public that there was no direct threat to Bahrain and thanked citizens and residents for their calm cooperation during the brief alert window.
