Museums Across Lebanon Came Alive After Dark

What if history, art, and a bit of magic all came together in one unforgettable evening? That’s exactly what happened during Lebanon’s Night of the Museums—a countrywide celebration that turned 24 museums into late-night wonderlands. And the best part? It was all free.

Behind the scenes with curators

For once, curators dropped their formal tone and shared the pieces closest to their hearts. At Sursock Museum, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige unveiled Where is My Mind, an emotional deep dive into Lebanon’s layers—personal memories, tangled politics, and all.

Beirut’s broken glass shined bright

AUB’s Archaeological Museum took a bold step by showcasing artifacts damaged in the 2020 port explosion. Cracked ancient glass vases weren’t hidden—they were honored. Twenty-eight of them were carefully restored, standing as symbols of strength and survival.

A timeless guardian stood tall

At the National Museum, the Colossus of Byblos didn’t need to move to impress. This giant limestone statue has weathered war, fire, and time. Still standing since 1942, it’s more than an artifact—it’s a quiet witness to Lebanon’s turbulent journey.

Museums opened up, together

From Tripoli to Saida, museums teamed up for a night filled with stories, colors, and connection. Visitors hopped on free shuttles, bouncing between ancient history and modern art. It wasn’t just about looking—it was about feeling. And for one night, Lebanon’s past felt beautifully alive.
