Beirut Airport Bounces Back With Record Passenger Surge

There’s good news coming out of Beirut Airport! Passenger numbers are rising again, signaling a lively and busy summer season. After a slow start earlier this year, travel is clearly picking up with both visitors and returning residents heading back.

Passenger numbers on the rise

Between January and May 2025, Beirut International Airport welcomed over 2.4 million passengers—a 5.1% increase compared to the same time last year. This strong rebound comes after a slight dip in early 2025, showing momentum is back just in time for summer.

May broke records

May 2025 stood out with 560,050 travelers passing through the airport, up 10.3% from May 2024. It’s the busiest May the airport has seen since 2019—a promising sign for the months ahead.

More flights in the air

Flight numbers rose too. The airport handled 4,607 flights in May 2025, which is 7.3% more than the same month last year. Arrivals grew by 7.1% and departures by 7.5%, though transit passenger numbers dropped.

Airlines are returning

After disruptions in October 2023, several airlines are back in action. Carriers like Air France have resumed flights to Beirut, and new additions such as Wizz Air Abu Dhabi are helping boost connections to Lebanon.
