Lebanon is getting ready to welcome Ramadan, and this year, both public and private sector workers can look forward to lighter workdays. The government has introduced reduced working hours, giving everyone a chance to balance their jobs with fasting more comfortably.
Workplaces all over Lebanon are embracing this change, making daily routines a bit easier for employees. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam released a memo outlining the adjusted hours, which will apply to both public offices and municipalities. The goal is to help workers maintain their energy and focus while observing Ramadan traditions.

Public sector and municipal employees will now work from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Fridays. This shorter workday gives people more time to rest, prepare meals, and spend time with family, while still keeping offices running smoothly.
Even employees with irregular or non-standard working hours won’t miss out. Their schedules will also be reduced, with employers coordinating to ensure work gets done while supporting staff through fasting. It’s a nationwide effort to make Ramadan more manageable and meaningful for everyone.
