Dar Al-Fatwa in Lebanon announced that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal has not been sighted. Accordingly, Thursday, March 19, will complete the holy month of Ramadan, and Friday, March 20, 2026, will be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.
The institution extended its congratulations to Muslims on this occasion, praying that God accepts their fasting, prayers, and good deeds, and that the holiday returns to the Lebanese people with goodness, security, and stability.

Lebanon’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, assigned Sheikh Amin Al-Kurdi, Secretary of Dar Al-Fatwa, to lead the Eid prayer and deliver the sermon at 6:30 AM at Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque in central Beirut.
Dar Al-Fatwa also announced that the Grand Mufti will not be receiving well-wishers this year due to the current situation in Lebanon.
