The Lebanese Are Taking To Social Media To Ask For Public Spaces In Beirut!

Diana E.

Recently, a Lebanese redditor sparked a discussion with one simple statement: Beirut needs public spaces. They followed that by saying that while the Beirut Souk may look promising post-renovation, it will become a ghost town because people will use their spending power the same way.

The Redditor also pointed out how Martyr’s Square has been turned into a parking lot, with crossing the roads there becoming risky due to speeding motorcycles and faulty traffic lights.

The post quickly gained traction, with many people agreeing with the Redditor and calling for more public spaces in Beirut.
