Get ready to explore Lebanon’s rich history. In celebration of National Heritage Day, Lebanon is opening its museums and archaeological sites for free, inviting everyone to discover the nation’s cultural treasures.
To honor National Heritage Day, Lebanon provided free entry to its museums and archaeological sites on May 14, 15, and 16. This yearly event, typically observed on the third Thursday of May, shines a spotlight on Lebanon’s diverse historical legacy.
The goal is to encourage people to connect with their heritage through various cultural and educational activities hosted at selected locations.
Landmarks such as the national museum, Beit ed-Dine palace museums, and several archaeological sites managed by the directorate general of antiquities participated. This initiative seeks to deepen appreciation for Lebanon’s complex and rich past.
Spearheaded by the ministry of culture’s general directorate of antiquities, the initiative aims to inspire citizens to explore and value their national heritage. Besides free entry, many sites hosted cultural and educational events to boost awareness and encourage exploration of Lebanon’s heritage.
