Diana E.

UNESCO has granted special protection to 34 cultural sites in Lebanon during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Unesco said the decision “helps send a signal to the entire international community of the urgent need to protect these sites.”.

The organization also said that violations of these protections would constitute “serious violations” of the 1954 Hague Convention and could lead to prosecution.
