A 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit close to Zaghreen, Syria, near the Lebanese border, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ).
The tremors were felt throughout Lebanon, with the most significant impact reported in the North and Bekaa regions.
In Beirut, where the earthquake was strongly felt, residents sought refuge in the streets, fearing a stronger quake might collapse buildings.
The earthquake caused some damage to homes, with a roof collapse in one room of a house in Beirut and cracks showing up in the wall of another building.
Lebanese people took to the internet to share that they felt it, and some even made jokes about it.
